Stolen Ivory S Dash and Cold Hard Chief, a pair of 2-year-old geldings by Cold Hard Dash, posted the two fastest qualifying times Wednesday from trials for the $60,000(CAN)-added Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity at Ajax Downs.

The two 330-yard trials determined the 10 finalists for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity, restricted to accredited Ontario-sired 2-year-olds. The final is scheduled for September 9 at Ajax Downs.

Stolen Ivory S Dash recorded the fastest qualifying time when he won the second trial by 2 1/4 lengths in 17.353. Sent off as the 0.35-1 favorite, the sorrel gelding broke on top and was never seriously threatened while racing under a hand ride.

Bryn Robertson trains Stolen Ivory S Dash for owners Carol and Jaime Robertson. Ismael Eluid Mosqueira was aboard the gelding, who was bred in Ontario by Guylaine Paquin.

Stolen Ivory S Dash is by Cold Hard Dash and out of the Ivory James mare Stolin Ivory. The Ontario-bred improved his career record to one win, one second and one third from three starts and earnings of $12,018. Third in the Ontario Bred Futurity earlier this season, Stolen Ivory S Dash broke his maiden with Wednesday's trial victory.

Cold Hard Chief remained undefeated in two starts while posting the second-fastest qualifying time of 17.424 with a three-quarter-length victory in the third trial. The 0.35-1 favorite took command and was not challenged on his way to his second victory in as many career starts.

Jason Pascoe conditions Cold Hard Chief for owner Katie Browne. Cristian Benitez rode the brown gelding, who was bred in Ontario by Milena Kwiecien.

Also by Cold Hard Dash, Cold Hard Chief is out of the Louisiana Senator mare Denali Teller Off. He has won both of his career starts and has earned $10,722.

My Gypsy Girl posted the third-fastest qualifying time after finishing second to Cold Hard Chief in the third trial in 17.532. Oscar the Grouch was the next-fastest qualifier after finishing second to Stolen Ivory S Dash in the second trial in 17.675.
